Darker than Black - Sunset City

August just went by in a flash! It's been a while since the last non-girl filled wallpaper! So today I went for an "oldie" but a goody with Darker than Black. This one is completely unlike my previous Darker than Black wallpapers in that the change in artist's (Yuji Iwahara) style lent itself to a less scenic and more design-oriented background. Or at least that was how I was inspired.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Nia

Sometimes, I make wallpapers and then just let them sit around for a bit, for reasons unknown. This was one of those wallpapers. And then, since I delayed in releasing it, a bunch of other people also did their own versions of it as well, so it seems less exciting and new now. But that's not gonna stop me from posting! So here it is, the first in a series of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann wallpapers I have planned, featuring art work from the Nia Portraits Collection that was released at the end of June. This one was illustrated by Chikashi Kubota, who was the animation director for episodes 14 and 24 and also illustrated the eye catch on episode 14. Cool eh?

Prism Ark - Hot Stuff

This is another one of those wallpapers I've had done for a while, but since I didn't release it when it was finished, it just didn't feel relevant anymore! I mean, Prism Ark was hardly a blip on the anime radar and yet I made a wallpaper for it >_< Oh well. In theory, I should avoid making wallpapers just because it's a pretty picture, but it's not really going to happen. The original illustration was drawn by Risa Ebata, character designer for Macross Frontier. Shows a lot of versatility, doesn't it? :3 Well, at least that point is relevant!
Akata Itsuki Works

Each month, Megami Magazine has a section called "Girl's Avenue." In this section, a poster by an up-and-coming or popular artist is featured, along with their website and some of their other works in smaller form. A few months ago, a poster by Akata Itsuki popped up and I was just awestruck. From color to composition to the dynamic lighting, it was just gorgeous. A few of the artist's other works were featured in this month's Megami Creators which is what brought that poster to mind again. Sadly, none of the other featured works had the same "punch" that this image did. But I still look forward to following more of Akata Itsuki's works!
To Love Ru: Lala and Haruna at the Beach

Another today from To Love-Ru! This time the wallpaper features Lala and Haruna from the show, at the beach! The original scan just had a sandy background, so I made my own, with a little ocean wave addition. Recently, I've been watching a lot less anime, mostly because of time constraints. Instead, I've moved on to reading the manga, as most of the recent series in the past year or so have had a manga adaptation. But I still prefer the anime art for most things! :D
